DIY: Bow nails

Hola a tod@s,

Hi all,
This entry is dedicated to this manicure I submitted for the contest of The Beauty Department, a blog about beauty led by Lauren Conrad (appears on reality shows Laguna Beach, the O.C. and the Hills on MTV) and a couple of girls more engaged in the world of professional makeup, and I highly recommend them, their tutorials are great and the aesthetics of the site are well presented. The contest consisted in sending a tutorial of  handmade nails and the winner from among all appear on their page. Unfortunately I didn't win, so now I publish here on my personal blog, is a design I made up in a boring summer day, and trying to find a clone for the nailpolish Zara of Zoya brand mixing these two from Kiko.

Herramientas // tools:

- Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
- KIKO Cosmetics Nailpolish 331
- KIKO Cosmetics Nailpolish 274
- Un kit de estampación (el mío es de Essence, y la placa es de Konad) | A stamping nail kit (mine is from Essence, and the draw’s plate is from Konad)
- Essence stamping nailpolish in black.

Pasos // Steps:

1. Start by paiting your nails with Sally Hansen Double Duty, it works like a base and also as a top coat (we’ll see it at last step). You can also remove first the cuticles of the nails to make it look better - I didn’t do it.
Let it dry.

2. Aplica un esmate morado. Déjalo secar también.
2. Apply a purple nailpolish. Let it dry too.

3. Paint your nails with a gold nailpolish. I used that one because it is not very pigmented so with a coat you can also see under it the purple base, now with a gold shimmer on it. If yours is pigmented, remove the excess of polish in a paper first and apply a fine coat. Let it dry again.

4. ¡Ahora toca hacer magia!
4. Now time to make the magic! Using a stamping nail kit, paint the bow draw in the plate with a very pigmented polish in black, remove the excess with the card in the kit with a fast movement, and put the sponge of stamping up the draw, push it hard, and next put it in your nail (you can see tutorials in youtube that are more exact explaining it).

5. After the bows are dry, apply a final coat on it of Sally Hansen Double Duty, to make the manicure stays longer and shines more.
